Very early on in my career, I learned that feedback and intention is everything. As a young project engineer, I received surprising feedback - coworkers around the office was thought that I was “unapproachable”- I was shocked! Although I was completely unaware and caught off guard, I smiled and said, "Good to know, thank you". I knew immediately that this was valuable feedback. I realized that I needed my actions to align with my goals and be intentional about making changes to become more vulnerable. That was over 20 years ago, and I have learned so much through the decades about how to be a manager, a coach, and an exceptional leader and also how to be approachable.
The most important realization I've had is that I am passionate about teaching, coaching and developing people on how to navigate from a manager to a leader in the workplace. I also enjoy helping people work through management issues they are facing, whether it be with an employee or their supervisor. I love helping people achieve what will help them become their best selves.
I believe in leading with love and being your authentic self. This approach will create a supportive environment which will result in a positive workplace that allows your employees to feel valued and empowered.
I will help you build a team that thrives and respects you if you are willing to be vulnerable and put in the work to get there.
My formal education is in Sociology and Engineering. I practiced engineering for many years and eventually became director of my department. Along the way, I have intentionally sought out books, certificate programs, and attended many keynote speakers that focus on leadership in order to grow my skills. I put to practice what I learned about how to improve morale, manage problem employees, develop an effective team, motivate people, and be approachable. I believe my sociology education has helped me tremendously in navigating personnel issues while respecting the individual.
Becoming an effective leader takes intention, commitment, humility, and discipline, but I promise it's worth it.
I have a number of different services I can provide, from resume review to ongoing leadership consultations.
